Homepage links: a link on the front page, for a period

A link from the publisher’s front page rather than from an article. Sold by period rather than permanently on most marketplaces, priced higher per link, and useful for a narrower set of goals than a guest post. The front page carries the most authority on the site and the least topical context.

What is a homepage link?

A sitewide or front-page placement, typically in a footer, sidebar or “partners” block, for a fixed term. Because it is often sitewide it can appear on every page of the publisher, which multiplies the raw link count without multiplying the number of referring domains. Renewal is the seller’s business model; the API records the term and the survival checks show when it lapses.

What does a homepage link cost?

The median across every marketplace we buy from is $257 at the buyer price, on 24,148 non-suspect publishers, with the cheapest seller of each domain counted once. Suspect domains, excluded from that figure, ask less: the cheap tail is where bought authority lives. The full distribution by DR band and subject is on the pricing page, refreshed hourly.

When is a homepage link the right choice?

For a brand or a homepage, where a sitewide brand-anchored link from a relevant publisher is plausible; for referral traffic from a publisher whose readers are your buyers; rarely for ranking an inner page on a keyword, where a contextual article link on the same domain does more. Beware the “partners” block with forty other links in it, which is the least natural-looking placement in the market.

What should you check before buying?

  • Verification. Whether the domain’s authority is matched by an organic footprint; 24.7% of measured domains fail. Rows carry the verdict and which test fired.
  • Survival. Where we have bought before, what share of our placements is still live at 90 days. Null under three orders, never guessed.
  • The block it sits in. The survival check records external-link count and position. A homepage link that is one of fifty is priced like a strong link and behaves like a directory entry.
  • The seller gap. The same placement on the same domain is sold by several marketplaces at different prices; the median gap is 98%. Quotes take the cheapest.

Every row an agent sees carries the checks above, so the brief can be short:

Show me verified homepage link placements on business publications, and tell me the term and the number of other outbound links on the page.
